See, while it does sound quite like a no-brainer job, the reality is that there's more to it than just playing a video game for the sake of playing it. The job, like most jobs out there, also has its disadvantages that these gaming companies conveniently leave out when they advertise for openings.

A careful and thorough research on the internet will lead you to websites dedicated to inform the public of the real deal as regards video game testing. You will find many blogs that readily and honestly reveal the hard truths about video game, and these blogs were written by no less than people who have actually tried the job themselves. If you want, you can even post comments and questions on these blogs and get answers from the authors. You can find out for yourself that video game testing really isn't as easy as you think.

Some of them have shared that while playing video games is the essential part of the job, it is not the be-all and end-all of everything. Meetings are called and testers are required to file reports on the game assigned to them. They don't play games for fun - they play it for a living. And to be able to earn top dollar, they have to come up with ways on how to make the game better, how to make them sellable and sure-fire hit with the public.

And remember that these testers play the video game, whether all of it or only a specific level, over and over again, for days or months on end. In the past, video game testers were hired to test a game when it's already nearing completion. Today, video game testers come into the picture in the early stages of a game's development that sometimes, video game testers hardly feel like they're playing a video game, with the product still under construction and infested with bugs.

Now it doesn't sound as fun as it first did, does it? Video game testing is real work, not mere child's play.
