If you are a fan of the classic board game but have forgotten how to play Cluedo game I have written a brief summary of the game rules. Cluedo also known as Clue is a mystery detective game normally for 2 to 6 people to play. It is suitable for 8 year olds and up. The rules are simple and it only takes about 5 minutes to set up. This is a turn based dice game. But this doesn't mean this is a game of luck, as it does require skills of deduction and elimination plus a certain amount of deception like poker. This makes it enjoyable for both children and adults.

How to Play Cluedo

Game

Classic Clue starts with the murder of a Mr. Boddy at his Tudor Mansion. The aim of the game is to work out which room, with which weapon and by who the murder was committed. The variables involved in the investigation are the 9 rooms of the Tudor mansion, the 6 occupants of the house at the time the crime occurred and 6 possible weapons found around the house. To set up the Cluedo board game the cards are separated into the variables i.e. rooms, suspects and weapons. The cards are shuffled and without looking at them, one card from each of these 3 piles is selected at random and placed in the envelope. The aim is now for everyone to be the first to work out by elimination exactly what those 3 cards are. The rest of the cards are shuffled together and dealt out between the players. If he/she doesn't have any of the 3 cards in your theory you move onto the next person along. If he/she has any of them he/she must show you only one. If a person puts a theory to you, you must always show a card if you have it, but you only have to show them one. You can make a suggestion including cards you have in your hand, in order to eliminate other cards. This is also a good way of bluffing the other players as to your line of inquiry! The fight for the territory begins. This is done by both the attacker and defender rolling the dice, which is done graphically by clicking on 'roll' to roll the dice. Whoever gets the highest number on the dice wins that battle, which results in knocking out one of the losers army. The attacker can choose to roll again until they completely defeat the defenders armies or until the attacker runs out of armies (remember that the attacker must have a minimum of 2 armies in the attacking country).

You can choose to attack a number of countries within your go and once you have finished, it is the next players turn to make attacks to try and take over countries. Like the original you get reinforcements if you own a whole continent and collect bonus cards which you can then trade in for extra cavalry, infantry or artillery.

At one time only the affluent had a game room in their home. Now, game rooms have become almost a staple in many new built homes, and many homeowners of older homes are converting basements, attics, and garages into game rooms.

Locating a Game Room

The first thought should be about the types of games and equipment you intend to put in your room. Most people immediately think, "pool table". If this is on your list, you'll find you need quite a large space. The minimum room size for a room with a pool table is 17x14. For the largest size pool table, you will need room space of 19x15. This is only for the pool table area.

If space is limited, a two-in-one table. These tables have a reversible top and can be used as a dining table or card table. If your room just isn't large enough to accommodate a pool table, consider locating it in a separate area.

Game Room Equipment

A poker table is also an good option for a family of card players. Some tables, called casino tables, can be used for a variety of games, such as roulette, craps, chess, backgammon, etc., just by flipping the table top. When the game table is not in use, it can be covered with it's table cover and used as an area to serve food and drinks. With it's cover on, this table can also be used for playing board games. If you don't have a poker table and like to play family board games or make puzzles together, a folding table that can be stored along the wall or in a closet is a good option.
